Western Atlantic University School of Medicine (WAUSM) has proudly partnered with select universities in the United States to offer an Accelerated Pathway to MD (APMD) – a streamlined route for international students seeking to practice medicine in the United States by allowing them to earn a bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Medicine (MD) in as few as six years.

- WAUSM faculty have mentored 25,000+ students to residency. Through an innovative,

hands-on curriculum, WAUSM will empower you to reach your full potential to become an

exceptional MD.

- Upon acceptance, students receive an acceptance letter from the partner university and a conditional acceptance from WAUSM.

•  Personal Statement/Essay
• All high school transcripts - 12th Standard - (and promotional exams).
• Copies of original transcripts and those translated into English.
• Original documents will be requested prior to enrollment.
• Three Letters of Recommendation
• Proof of Language Proficiency (if needed)

 Minimum Academic Criteria:

• CBSE – 75%
• IB – 28 Points
• State Boards – 75%
• A Levels – BBC
• SABIS – 75%
• Thanawiyah – 90%
• American Curriculum – GPA 3.8

Biology and/or Chemistry background required.

If the Medium of Instruction was English → Accepted

If not:

• IELTS – 6.0 overall and 6.0 each band required for direct entry
• TOEFL – 80 (20 reading / 20 listening / 20 speaking / 20 writing)
• Duolingo – 115 Overall (Home edition is accepted)

• Step 1 – Apply to WAUSM Undergraduate Partner
• Step 2 – Receive Acceptance & Conditional MD Admission
• Step 3 – Complete Years 1–2 (Bachelor’s Phase)
• Step 4 – Progress into MD Phase
• Step 5 – Clinical Rotations in U.S. Hospitals
• Step 6 – Sit for USMLE → Apply for Residency 

WAUSM students are eligible to complete clinical clerkships, pursue residency training in the US, and sit for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1, 2, and 3 exams. Of note, the University

boasts a 100% first-time pass rate on Step 1 – a clear testament to the strength of WAUSM’s academic model.

70% of WAUSM’s APMD is US-based. You’ll begin the Pathway at one of WAUSM’s

US-based partner universities, continue with the medical sciences portion of the MD Program at our pre-clerkship campus in Freeport, Grand Bahama, and complete your clinical training in the US at a WAUSM partner hospital.
